In early April 2011, five Hong Kong families and their kids aged 6 to 15 years old decided to take their learning beyond the classroom and be a part of an outreach trip to visit a Save the Children's project school in Long Bin Village, Yunnan, China. During the 4-day visit, these kids had an opportunity not only to understand Save the Children's work in helping vulnerable children in China, but also to study, learn and play alongside the local students. They created artwork and paintings with their new friends and even renovated a classroom by painting the walls and new furniture. The children also participated in home visits and experienced first-hand life in a rural community.
